Prayer and Fasting Guide

3-27-25

Revival, Renewal, and Spiritual Awakening

Take a moment and read Joel 2:12-13.

Ask God to let you see your sin the way He does and for Him to reveal to you those things in your life that are not pleasing to Him. Spend a moment repenting of these things. Pray that God would bring revival to your spirit. Ask God to revive His church here in Blountstown. Pray for a spiritual awakening in our community and in our nation.

Receiving Divine Revelation, Guidance, or Strategy

Read Daniel 9:2. Fasting has been a catalyst for receiving divine revelation, guidance, and strategic insights from the Lord. Throughout the Scriptures, we witness individuals like Daniel, who through fasting and prayer, gained a profound understanding of God’s plans and purposes, enabling them to navigate complex situations with wisdom and clarity.

Ask God to grant you spiritual insight and a deeper comprehension of His will. Petition God to give you the ability to submit your will to His. Ask God to reveal His strategies for the ministries here at FBC Blountstown.

Empowerment for Ministry or Specific Tasks

Read Acts 13:2 Fasting has been instrumental in facilitating breakthroughs in ministry empowerment and specific callings from the Lord. The early church experienced a pivotal breakthrough when, through fasting and worship, the Holy Spirit set apart Barnabas and Saul for their apostolic mission, marking the beginning of a significant evangelistic movement.

Ask God for a fresh anointing, for the gifting and divine empowerment to accomplish the specific tasks and ministries to which He has called you. Ask God to bless and empower the ministries here at FBC. (Ex. our children, youth, Hispanic Congregation, and addiction recovery efforts.)

Overcoming Obstacles or Seemingly Impossible Situations

Read Ezra 8:21 The Scriptures abound with narratives of God’s people experiencing breakthroughs in overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles or daunting circumstances through the power of fasting. From securing safe passage through enemy territories to breaking through spiritual strongholds, fasting has been a catalyst for divine intervention and the manifestation of God’s miraculous power.

Ask God to transcend human limitations in order for you to witness breakthroughs that defy natural logic and expectations. Ask God to increase your faith. Name those impossible situations to God (Ex. healings, restoring relationships, broken marriages, the penetration of the gospel in resistant hearts) and ask God to move in power.

Deliverance from Spiritual Oppression, Sin, or Bondages

Read Mark 9:29 One of the profound breakthroughs facilitated by fasting is deliverance from spiritual oppression, sin, and various forms of bondage. The Scriptures reveal instances where fasting and prayer were instrumental in breaking the chains of demonic influence, addictions, and entrenched patterns of sin that had held individuals or communities captive.

Pray that through fasting the strongholds of the flesh would be weakened, and our spiritual resolve would be strengthened. Bring before God individual cases of addiction and spiritual oppression, asking for the liberating power of Christ to be experienced. Ask God to free our communities from greed and materialism so that we might be more able to serve the needs of others. Pray that God would defeat the strongholds of abortion and child trafficking that plague the dark places of this world.  Pray that God would deliver the church from self-righteousness and apathy.

Ask God if He wants you to make fasting a regular part of your spiritual disciplines.
